So my original post got locked. "New player.. I decidedly dislike PT mode. " I took some advice...

And I stuck out the entry pool and I have 3 teams in iron league.

And these teams are actually competitive. 2 of them are in 2nd place (though 1 is 11 GB 1st, the other is only 1 1/2 GB) and 1 of them is 3rd place in it's division.

I didn't take advice that maybe I should have, I did a lot of pack gambling with the PP that I earned... BUT I got some okay cards and I shuffled my teams' rosters around a bit.

I also did another no-no and I spent $20 for 25k PP and bought a diamond pack- I got a Ken Forsch, we'll see how that pans out. But with the remainder I got an Ernie Banks from the AH.

Maybe next month I'll drop another $20 and actually play the market to try build a team up.

Key is start on Monday morning in entry pool and spend money on AH. Spend money on hitting before pitching.

Although I've spend money on cracking packs, this is a far better way to spend your PP to build a good team.

Even though I've gotten some nice gold and diamond players cracking packs, their AH PP value is rarely close to what I spent on the packs. Recent example - I spent 20K PP for a diamond pack for a diamond card with an AH value barely above the $4K PP you can quick sell it for.

In lower level leagues, spending $20K of PP in the AH can get you some nice gold upgrades (and even some decent bronze and silver cards) that will dramatically improve your team.

I'm glad you stuck it out. It sounds like you're having fun now.

Since your last post, I bought another license during the ASG sale just to get three more teams. As an example, I started all three teams in Entry Pool on Monday morning. I log into them once a day, just to see how many PP they've each accumulated. Haven't actually opened up PT on any of them and don't intend. They could be leading, could be last, could be .500 - all that matters to me is how many PP they accumulate this week.

Yeah, all 3 of my teams actually made the playoffs. 2 have a wildcard game, and the other actually cleared the division.
