Historical - Import Historical Rookies

Question - If I started a 2016 game in OOTP 2017 using the reserve roster (no minor leagues), will it import historical rookies that came up to MLB in 2017/2018 now that I am playing in OOTP XX? Or will you have a fictional draft since I did not start the 2016 game in OOTP XX?
