Preventing retiring players and FA pickups
I want to set up an all-time historical league where I use the World Series winners and losers and other teams with a high winning percentage. I'm setting it up such that there are multiple leagues and each league has a different "grade" and I'll be promoting and relegating teams between grades.
What I want to be able to do is run a season, promote and relegate, run the next season and so on. But I want the historical teams to remain in tact. So no retiring, no dropping players or adding free agents. I turned off trading and player development so that part is covered. Is there a way to do this using the custom rules/options within the game?
I did something like this about 4 years ago, but I ended up creating a template (league structures, rules and teams were already there then), then moved teams around based on my pro/reg rules and just started a new game every time I wanted to run another season which took some work. I had/have 400+ teams and 15 leagues total in this universe. It would be great to handle everything in a single game rather than start a new game.
Also, I saw in the historical exhibition tournaments I saw we can select rosters from the start of the season or end of the season, but I didn't see that option in when setting up a historical league. Is there a way to use end of season rosters?
