Adding AB to player incorrectly
I reported this problem on OOTP4, just don't remember if I ever got an answer.
I'm playing my games, and my 2nd batter comes to the plate with my #9 hitter on 3rd and my leadoff guy on 1st. I decided this was a good place to test out the hit & run, so I select to do that. Well, my hitter wasn't able to make contact and the idiot at 3rd just started running ballz-out anyway, so he gets tagged out. That's fine. My batter goes from being 1-2 to 1-3 on the game while he's still at the plate. Then on the next pitch, he pops out to center and is now 1-4 in the game yet he's been up 3 times. A few innings later a similar problem occurs. Same guy (#2 hitter) is up and my leadoff hitter once again is on 1st. I just try to steal 2nd with my leadoff hitter, and he is thrown out. My #2 hitter goes from 1-4 to 1-5. He then strikes out and is now 1-6 in the game, but he should be 1-4. I know this isn't a one-time thing, because I saw it happen pretty much every game I played in OOTP4...any game that I unsuccessfully stole a base, that is. I had hoped this problem was fixed, but apparently not. Any thoughts as to why this happens? Will it be addressed this year?

Huh. Never seen that happen with v4, or 5 for that matter -- ever. I don't doubt what you said, and obviously it's a bug that needs to be fixed. I can't tell you much, as I am not Steve or Markus.
BTW, the only thought on why it happens is because it's a bug. That's the only explanation I can come up with. Maybe someone else can do better. |

here's the boxscore and gamelog for the game in question
the troubled player is Kansas City's #2 hitter. Notice he has 6 AB, while everyone else has 5 or 4.

Well, according to the game log, he should have five at bats:
3B Jamie Adkins: Grounds out to the shortstop. 3B Jamie Adkins: SINGLES to center 3B Jamie Adkins: SQUEEZE BUNT MISSED, runner out at home! S. Minnich to second. Flies out to left-center. 3B Jamie Adkins: Grounds out to the pitcher. 3B Jamie Adkins: Minnich caught stealing at second. Grounds out to the second baseman. So the game must have counted either the caught stealing or the missed squeeze as one, but if it counted both, then he should have 7 at bats. As it is, he had six, because of the above, but should've had 5. |
