Updating Transaction Data Taking Forever

I'm starting a new historical game. 1975. It has been about an hour and a half and the "updating transaction data" is only on 20%. It's never been like this in the past. Is this the new normal for historical games?

No, I don’t think so. Nobody else (to my knowledge) has reported having this problem. Perhaps your file was corrupted. Might want to uninstall and reinstall the game.

I bought my game from steam. Would the uninstall/re-install make a difference if it is steam bought instead?
