Drastic change in budget when going to preseason

So I'm used to getting more money when the calendar shifts to preseason and the budget gets changed, but during my first offseason I'm playing as the Marlins I had over 11 million available the day before preseason began and then i advance to the next day and now i have less than one million available. is this because of the owner taking more away or what? it's hard to plan for when i get one number one day and then another the next day. i dont manually set budgets, so maybe if i did i could have avoided this? i dont really know how this could have been avoided

If your team generated less money during the season than the budget called for, the deficit is taken out of your cash in a lump sum. It's happened to me more than once.
