Some alternative thoughts on dispersal draft
I remember complaining along with other people about the dispersal draft strategy and how easy it was to build my minor leagues to be strong. Now, after having gotten fired two different times after dispersal drafts, I'm starting to think the computer strategy of drafting is not so far off after all. I find that even two star players are better for surviving the immediate season then a five star prospect who is a few years away (if he doesn't bust.) This draft, I'm taking players to build my 25 man roster, before I take any prospects and so far I think this is working much better in keeping me around to enjoy my team in manager mode. Interestingly, using this strategy I still have the strongest minor league but the disparity is not as large with the rest of the league.

The other thing I've noticed is that the computer does a really nice job of avoiding "star" players who are getting up there in age (i.e. 37,38, or 39) who are likely to decline that season.
