He forgot how to pitch?

I've had great luck with John Smoltz 96 in this game. In fact right now all three of my teams (2 at perfect, 1 at diamond) have him in the rotation. He's always thrown up good numbers for me at both levels...

... until my Gold Gryphon team got promoted this year and suddenly the Cy Young contender pitches like a little leaguer against big leaguers.

I realize the jump to perfect will result in a tougher competition, but this is ridiculous. Maybe Tommy John in the future? Gonna have to shut him down soon if this continues...

Nobody believes it until it happens to them...

With any luck, the teams benefiting from the points you're hemorrhaging will be merciful and allow you to relegate quickly so you can start earning points again yourself

Thing is I have another team in the same Perfect league that's won a Perfect WS title and been to playoffs almost every year since year one of Perfect in the game and they're running Smoltz pretty successfully...

He was 13-3 with a 2.19 ERA and 1.04 WHIP last year, maybe a little off this year so far with them at 5-6, 4.30 and 1.40. But not THIS bad...

This happened to me with Chris Sale, 1 great year and then nothing. I finally sold him.

96 Smoltz has been up and down in Perfect League for me. His best season he was 19-7 with an ERA of 2.65 and WAR of 5.7. His worst season he was 13-14 with an ERA of 4.81 and WAR of 2.6. His career totals over 6 1/2 seasons are 80-70 with an ERA of 3.56.

The bad year happens. That is one reason I carry so many starters on my staff. I just change when I see one having a bad year. Last year after the first month Kevin Brown went to the bullpen. This year he is mowing them down again like always.
