Screen Height Issue
Not sure if I am posting this in the right place, but I just tried downloading the demo of OOTP 18 (only recently heard about the game) and after trying to launch the installer, it said I didn't meet the system requirement for screen height. Apparently the game requires 780 pixels whereas my laptop's screen is 720 pixels. My laptop meets all the other system requirements, so I suppose I'm asking if I connect the laptop to an external screen (for instance, a 55" 4K TV), will this fix the problem? Or do I just need to keep moving back to an older version, as OOTP 18 is the most recent version of the game I can run? Apologies if this is a confusing question or posted in the wrong place.

Re: External Screen
blaster,
If you connect your laptop to an external screen (such as the tv that you mentioned) you should be able to play the game at a higher resolution. However, I personally wouldn't go too much above what your current laptop resolution is as I doubt the graphics card/chip could keep up with suddenly having a 4k screen when it's used to having a smaller one like what you mentioned, I would also switch to "second screen only" using the Windows+P keys. I have had success running OOTP 19 in a 1366x768 resolution in full screen mode on my older laptop before I recently upgraded to a desktop. That laptop was indeed connected to a TV via HDMI so that I could play OOTP from the couch. I think I used 1600x900 for the TV resolution just to help preserve my laptop a bit more. I do know that the game will warn me if I start in too low of a resolution that it needed to start in full screen mode. I hope this information helps. |

Thanks! That's definitely encouraging. Would you recommend doing the installation while connected to the TV as well, to circumvent the "does not meet a system requirement" error message?

I would certainly give it a shot with the TV connected, that should give it the resolution that it requires. If you plan to do this long term, I would also recommend a wireless keyboard and a mouse to make yourself a bit more comfortable.
