Protected Lists and How to Manage Them

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the game and love it. I'm a huge hockey fan!

But the protected lists are proving difficult to manage. I'm the GM of the Seattle Thunderbirds and my protected list is full with 50 players. I'm in the middle of the draft and can't finish the draft because I have literally gotten rid of all the dead weight I can.

Is there a place I can put players I want to keep? Do I really need to get rid of players I like and want to keep, making the hard choices? Is there another option I'm not thinking of?

Your help is appreciated.

No way to hide them elsewhere - the rule for all of the CHL junior leagues is 50 players maximum for the protected list, so if a team hits that limit during the draft, they have to remove players from their list to continue drafting. The only way to open up spaces is to either release some of your signed players, or abandon the rights to unsigned ones (to do that, right-click on the player name and choose "Lapse Player Rights.")

Darn!

Darn, was hoping there was a trick or a reserve list or something. Kind of defeats the point of having so many draft picks every year IMHO. I'll work with it. Thank you.

Yup, the later rounds in the WHL draft are there if you want them, but in practice, most teams stop picking long before the draft ends because the guys available aren't better than what they have. See the real draft results from last year: https://www.eliteprospects.com/draft...tam-draft/2018 - a few teams stop picking in round 10, most are out in 11, only a couple left in 12, and just Everett in 13, and then it's done.
