jim palmer relief WEAK

i tried 1975 jim palmer in relief.
He has GREAT stamina in silver lg...pitches complete game often.

One game 100% rested prior to a 9th inning relief appearance.
After one inning rest down to 57%

Is his position set to RP rather than SP? That can have an effect.

There is also an in-game mechanic that prevents relief pitchers from throwing as many innings as starting pitchers.

Pitchers usually get a stuff boost when converted from SP to RP.

Thanks I just set as Closer.

What do you think of doing the reverse..have a reliever start?

I've seen a couple teams in my league this season trying that with their 5th starter. Unless the reliever has a decent stamina rating you'll only ever get 3 innings max out of them. I think the game automatically adjusts a reliever's stuff rating down when they are put in as starters, anyway.

Rays did it last season but could we do it in PT

Yeah, do you think we can do what the Rays did last season and "start" Romo for just the first few innings? How would that work? Set a RP to SP and then set the max pitch count to 30 and set it to six man rotation? But how would you make sure that the "real" SP would follow him in the second or third inning?

As far as I know, there is not a reliable way to match the Rays strategy and start the game with a RP for 1-2 innings and then bring in a SP for 5-6 innings.

I don’t recall if ootp20 will have some new options to match this strategy.
