P 410 Season 9
So there we are again, the incredible Beechwood Bucaneers from Dohren Weedfield, starting 10 - 13, which means they are in the hunt for Relegation again together with about five other Teams. The owner, Uschi_baerchen said in a Statement to the Local Buchholzer Wochenblatt, that he is proud of his Team going 10 - 10 against right handed pitching but a dysmal 0 - 3 against lefties. He puts it to the behaviour of the local farmers who planted winterwheat on the area of the playground and his Player were able to get some Training only 2 hours before season started for this reason. He is concerned about the lack of Support for one of the few german Baseball Teams able to compete at the highest Level.

Nice to see you again...good luck this season. As I looked at your image, ....Field of Dreams popped in my mind (if you build it, they will come) since there are quite a few empty fields nearby. We are in the NC divsision (Redmond Coyotes). Started out with a great record but strangely, another team is holding the lead. 6 games against the As over the next two days....that should help decide who wins the division. |

Good luck to you! Dohren Wheatfield is actually about 20 Minutes by car from were I live (Buchholz = translated Beechwood). You Can see Pictures in the following TV-spot, most is in german, but Dohrens best hitter Caleb Fenimore is from the USA (he says some words in english in this spot): https://www.ndr.de/fernsehen/sendung...onds43680.html And here you Can see the stats of Caleb Fenimore (he leads the first german Baseball league North in RBI, HR, BB, IBB, OPS=1.306 !!), his figures are near Barry Bonds in 2004: http://stats.baseball-softball.de/1bln/?y=18&f=leaders + yes if you consider the surrounding it has something of a field of dreams, at least I understood Caleb said so Last edited by uschi_baerchen; 01-29-2019 at 12:21 PM. Above 50% the first time
“Coachuschi_baerchen, how does it feel to be above 50% wins, I think you´re at 25-24, the first time in perfect league?”
“Ahem, missWolfson, “ “Mrs. and Tracyplease” “OK, Tracy, what can I say? It feels great! I mean, it is all about making our fans, ourfriends, our family and our community happy, doesn´t it?” “Coach, owner Michael Verner said the success is partly because of timely new acquisitions, like Lou Gehrig for example. Is also your point of view?” “OK Lou,Lou is a wonderful player with a high dedication to the game, but, to behonest, I wanted to have the expensive Lou but Michael refused to inject somemoney, then I wanted to stay pat and rather spare the money for Trout, butMichael fell in love with the idea to upgrade first base with a nameplayer –what I say now has stay between us, OK?” “Shureenough uschi” “You seeMichael is, let´s say, very persuasive at times. He told me, he could envision theBuchholz Buccaneers with Lou and another coach quite easily so I had to followsuit and now we have a decent DH, so much for upgrade of first base, I mean Loucan hit but he cannot catch a ball, a mole could see this” “Anotherpoint, uschi, when I look around here at Dohren Weedfield I have the impressionthe area is copied from a movie ..” “You meanthat Kevin Costner stuff, Tracy, don´t you?” “Yes,uschi, how is it to play baseball in such an wonderful place?” “Oh well, Tracy, you have to look behind the beautiful scene. This playground is surrounded bycornfields, large cornfields. Apart from boars no animal, neither bird norinsect, can survive in such areas. If you leave Dohren Weedfield, turn to theleft and walk for about a mile you see – surprise, surprise – some trees whichare left over there in order to hide, what lays behind them: some large biogasplants. The corn is used to feed these plants, which share the owner with theBuchholz Buccaneers, by the way. Such a plant costs 6.000.000 Euros and gives anet-profit of 1.200.000 Euros before taxes per year, taxes, which these “farmers”do not pay anyway.” “OK, uschi, back to baseball. What are your future plans for the Buccaneers?” “I willtell you something, Tracy. You see, it is easier to stay in perfect league thento advance from Diamond to Perfect. This means, that we will play out the ****from our asses to keep the league and not to be relegated. I think we can sparesome 2.500 PP per season, so that we will be able to get Trout in 8 – 10seasons time. I dunno, if this will suffice, because the other teams will notgo to sleep either and some of the owners seem to open their purses, somethingwhich Michael refuses to do.” “What areyour personal plans, uschi?” “Tracy, Ilove this game and I love to be able to talk about this game with suchbeautiful women like you, so what can I do apart from giving my best to stay inthe business?” “Uschi_baerchen,thank you for the interview and your compliments, let´s see, if I can sent youErin next time, bye, bye!” |

I briefly checked and one starter always start at 80% stamina (unless you get lucky with some days off in between). Because of this, I assume your starter only pitches 5-6 innings and then hand it off to your relievers. Good luck and please don't hesitate to share more information as the season progresses..... |

Wow...very nice. Looks like I left Germany way too early and there is more baseball now compared to when I lived there (Darmstadt). I think I remember your home town....if I remember correctly is in near Autobahn 1 & 7 crossing. I drove up north a few times from Bremen and Hannover. It is a nice area....even though I wish we would have stopped a bit more to look at all the areas. |

Initially I set pitch count limitation to 85 but as you pointed out the starters start game rested only at 80% which I believe resulted in higher ERA of my starters (9th in conference, bullpen is fifth). I decided to lower the pitch count to 75% and will see. So far no real advatage gained

It seems pretty consistent....every single pitcher goes 5-5.2 innings and then gets pulled. As long as you have a good bullpen, you may be able to make this work.
Keep an eye on stamina for your bullpen. A while back, I had a few losses when my bullpen was all yellow/red for stamina. It seems when my starters performed poorly and got pulled, I ended up with an overextended bullpen and some poor performances from my relievers. |

Wow, I am the luckiest guy ever. First my team won a tiebraker about who would take the second wild card spot in our conference by hitting a single against Isotopes. Then my guys won the wild card against Shorepeeps who finished 2nd in my division (one game ahead of me) and whose fielders made 3 errors in such important game!!!

Hi everyone,
Good luck in the playoffs. I survived a scare in the first round and made it with a game 5 win to the next round. Seawolves managed 1st place and 1st round series win. Now we are up against a 120 win team in the LCS.
Can't wait for the mini whale league next season.

I almost beat the Coyotes but lost two one run games on the road.
I was surprised to even make the playoffs.

I never thought about my Pitchers fielding rate, but Bob Gibson made 2 errors and there were 3 unearned runs in my one run lose in Game 7.
I guess defense at all levels matters?

I figured your team would beat me after you went ahead 3-2 in the series.
It was a great series....I feel like the Coyotes got lucky (twice already in the playoffs). Your team had 76 steals during the season but stole a base almost every game including 4 stolen bases in one of your wins. Good luck next season.... |
