Market Size

So, I'm really struggling with this in a new league. I play as commissioner, and edited the market sizes for all teams (fictional league). After completing that, and then assigning fictional contracts to players/coaches and fictional financials, OOTP automatically changed/modified all of the market sizes before I've even played a game.

I realize that this is supposed to be 'dynamic' & somewhat related to success/failure and random. However, I haven't even moved a day forward yet, and the market sizes are modified.

Any insights on this/how to make it work? I think the real thing I'm trying to avoid is some teams with a market size of 3 and some up around 9-10.

When you assign contracts, it then also creates new budgets and market sizes for the teams based on their current rosters.

I usually start with a Fantasy Draft and give teams specific budgets. Then, they will draft to that budget and end up in the general area I want them to be with their market size.

does that also get imported by historical year? if so, post date in Stats and AI beyond 2018.

also, i haven't used those functions in a while, but there may be 2 -- one that does the contracts and one that does larger impact? check drop-down in available actions on that screen. there may be additional options i nthat regard... or not.

I do not play much historical so could be wrong, but I do not believe that market sizes are necessarily very accurate in that mode. My guess is that they just progress randomly or based on the success of the franchise.

what i mean is if "2018" is the value in the historic year input, it can cause changes to your settings, depending on timing and how/when it does things. may not be relevant, but could be a cause.

putting "2019" and higher in that box could help (this value will have no effect on the actual date of your league). i remember a couple fantasy drafts i did where my work got reset. at this point no idea on exact details, lol. i don't recall using the assign fictional contracts, but maybe. more than one thing is a plausible cause.
