Favorite best Batter/Pitcher OOTP

Just curious of what other peoples favorite Batter and Pitcher is in OOTP as far as success and stats.

For me it is:

Mickey Mantle

Dwight Gooden

I want to draft a new team and would like some input. Thank you all.

think i am getting old.. i can't recall the last name and it wasn't that long ago.. gustavo something estrada? 4987 hits. i retired him, because he was 'done' but probably would have signed and batted 100-something to get to 5k hits.

played forever, obviously. got there young and stuck around.

iafa player - i seem to get these guys to majors sub-20 more often, but small sample and too much time between.

a few years ago (think a post exists), i had a whacky good SS. fitting that his nickname was 'legend'. the only player i've ever seen with ~100con/~100power -- whatver it was, it was close. but, recent memories outwiegh older ones

Ryan McMahon for the Rockies. In a solo sim I am running he turned into a BEAST. was a late bloomer and was plagued by injury late, so some of his counting stats are not what they could/should have been. But I’d rate stats are ELITE. top 5 career OBP/SLG/OPS all time

There are only a handful of elite players in my league - players who have never had a down year in all they years they have played. I've played out 12 season now.

Best batter: Miguel Cabrera.
Runner up (1 off year): Lou Gerhig

Best pitcher: Pedro Martinez.
Runner up: Chris Sale (no bad years but only 5 seasons played so far with him)

I assume we are talking about the regular game and not PT

For me my favorite batter is probably Keibert Ruiz, favorite pitcher is Alex Claudio.

But really the only player I've had in multiple saves are 2B Antoni Flores. For pitchers, SPs Francis Martes and Jorge Guzman, who are in every save I make for literally no reason at all. I'm not even trying to get Martes or Guzman, they just are usually the best offer in a trade at some point. Martes litearlly can be a Cy Young contender one season and terrible the next, Guzman is more consistently average, neither is too exciting.

Pitcher is Dizzy Dean. He comes in the fictional historical draft as a closer. He's lights out. Doesnt last too long into his 30s though.

Batter is Sliding Billy Hamilton. 90 plus steals a year and hits over .330. Great on base percentage and a good arm.

I actually have Lou Gehrig from drafting him out of HS. He is coming along very slow unlike top other players. Only 21 though.

Thanks for the information.

Dizzy: Excellent that is good to know. I have Nolan Ryan who also started out as a reliever but I'm stretching him out as a starter.

Mantle is such a... a... I don't have the word but the guy had a 40 point difference in batting average hitting right vs hitting left and apparently never considered being a switch hitter was a bad idea.
