Undefeated/winless team?
Has anyone ever monkeyed around and set up a league where one team has 25-40 HoF caliber players in their prime, and another is filled with pure low minor league filler, and then simmed? Curious about results.

Not exactly. Out of curiosity, I set up a team with the top five SPs, top seven RPs, and the best player in MLB at each position. It was not scientific, just who I thought was the best off the top of my head. Turned off injuries, and simmed the season. The team went like 137-25, won LDS and LCS, then lost 4-2.

perfect season probably can happen, but don't expect it in 1000's of years, if at all on default settings? can influence that % a bit with various settings.. like no injuries or fatigue.. or more subtle like a custom schedule that doesn't run them ragged 20+ days in a row for no reason other than prefered matchups at preferred times due to tv.
implementing some of those things are more reasonable than others. i always use a custom schedule for numerous reasons not related to maximizing wins for 1 team in league. --- at some point it becomes near impossible to lose, but not in the 130's. how deep the playoffs is significant. i speak from 2-step reference, mostly. 2 playoff series vs 3 playoff series makes a huge difference, but at 130 it's nothing like at 90-100wins... and so on to lesser effect. i bet that 137 team wins 3 consecutive playoff series 80-90%, if you saved and re-ran it. some foul luck there, unfortunately. your statistical environment can influence how good you can get too... as well as current talent in the league and how it relates... i recently tweaked my LTM... stupid... stupid.. my league averages in important offensive categories went down more than a tad and my teams with similar talent as normal begain losing quite a bit more than normal (100+years prior sample). i undid the tweaks and things are normal again. i did a mass-overhaul of that team for no reason and it didn't help much. all i had done was increase the walks LTM. the results were like i shifted it to a different curve completely and it was at the lowest point on that new curve, lol. once i undid those changes, did my team start performing like normal... it was a decade of craziness... then night/day shift in league ERA, et al.. and it's fixed. whatever i did, it bunched things up more as far as what is different between a high end talent and average as far as results on field. so the results of the elite weren't as much different as they were in the past ~100-some years of never changing my LTM. so, you could do things wtih totals and modifiers that can improve chances of a perfect season too. ----- you want to ditch certain traditional thoughts and strategies with a 130+ win team too. don't think in terms %'s related to the average (outside of player to player comparison, that's the only real constructive way in similar contexts)... your team is nothing like average at this point. throw that data out the window, lol. (at least some of it). managerial decisions based on an average team won't serve you well. your break-even is different in numerous ways to play the odds. you start to learn what elite more often looks like and what an imposter more often looks like. when you only deal in that quality you get more precise in understanding it. i.e. so many "80/80" SP that are veritable junk... 80 and ~average is junk. if i want average i'll pay for average ratings and get what i pay for rather than gilded junk, lol. do all that in the right context and i bet 162 wins is possible, but don't hold your breath. It is highly unlikely a team could go undefeated over 162 games no matter what you did. At some point, your #5 starter will face the other team’s ace, (even with injuries off) your star player will sit out the game to rest, and your #5 starter has the night of his life, only giving up three hits, while their David Freese or Aaron Boone will goes 3 for 4 with 3 HR’s. It’s baseball. You lose 3-2. Even if you have a 99% chance of winning every single game, you are likely to lose 2 out of 162. The odds just almost obliterate any chance of going 162-0.

I did this a few versions ago. surprisingly the stats weren't as mind bogglingly crazy as i thought i'd get but i did see 162-0 although i only included 2 teams in the league, the maxed attributes team and the lousy ones on the other team.

Not exactly what your asking for, and I don’t have much to offer, but I have seen a perfect season. The league was built off an NFL schedule in OOTP 15. Teams would play weekly, and would have one pitcher. It was mostly an experiment, and I didn’t stick with it too long.
The perfect season belonged to the Baltimore Ravens. All I have left from that sim is this poor picture of their pitcher’s stats, I wish I knew how to screenshot at that time. |

Brad, I get where you are coming from but that is significantly different than a baseball season.
