Why duplicate players in Perfect Team?
I'm loving Perfect Team. My only gripe is why all the duplicate players? There is enough players in Major League history to go around. Besides, I'm selfish. I don't want to share Curt Shilling or Willie Stargell with anyone.
Seriously, I feel it would be much better if your guys were YOUR guys. Anyone else think so?

So you want 1 Chris Sale for the 1000s of teams playing?
No thanks. |

If there are 6,000 Perfect Teams, and if no duplicate players were allowed, the game would need 150,000 different players. That would necessitate drawing on sandlots and Little Leaguers.

It would appear then that OOTP is bigger than baseball (which is as it should be)

I'd love to see some kind of in-depth article with a baseball blog along the lines of "What would happen if the talent level in baseball increased by 10 times? Thousands of seasons have been simulated and here are the results."

I'm OK with duplicate players. However, there needs to be MORE players and MORE selection.
I've enjoyed playing over at DMB for many years. They have a SSG mode which allows managers to select ANY player from ANY year! That is great. However, ... Over here in OOTP, the user interface and "experience" are light-years ahead. To make OOTP PT the "perfect game" it would combine its excellent interface with a huge selection of players. That would be my dream game. Seems like OOTP is really close. After all, I think "all" that needs to be done is expand the database... I'm sure that's much easier said than done, but it seems that would be much easier than designing the interface... Anyway, I hope the goal will be to someday have a LARGE variety of players! Thanks for creating this game. It really has been fun for the last month. Last edited by BBQuasar; 12-25-2018 at 10:47 AM. |

More players and more selection of people we actually want to see though. If you can't even get a picture for a Live player, then the odds are we probably shouldn't have him in the game. I consider myself a pretty avid (rabid) baseball fan, yet OOTP still finds ways to give me multiple guys per pack that I've never heard of.
If we increase the player pool, start by looking at All-star teams for every prior year and putting those guys in, then look at top 10 leaderboards for various stats and plugging those guys in. I don't really want some no-name RP or 3rd catcher that may or may not have actually played a game in the majors this year, I want guys I've rooted for in the past and that I actually, you know, want on my team. |

If you increase the number of "desirable" cards, you also have to increase the crap nobody wants to keep the ratios the same.

No matter how many cards there are, teams will still gravitate to the best ones. Unless there are an equal number of identically great cards, there is always going to be a concentration of the best and most common cards.
