Amateur Draft

After simming 8 seasons, it appears that there aren't many promising hitters coming out. Year after year only 2 or 3 are worth much at all. There tend to be significantly more pitchers of quality in the draft pool.

Is there anyway to increase talent pool.

Anyone have any good way of spotting talent that has been consistent for you (other than the star ratings and talent levels). For example, speed or size or something else. All my 5 stars have destroyed the minor leagues and then bombed in the show. As soon as they get to the bigs, their 5 stars turn in to 3 or less.

I've noticed that most big prospects tend to bomb in OOTP5. It's more realistic, I think.

Pitchers especially tend to bomb.

I assume you are importing each rookie class from Lahman's? If so, yes I believe the interpretation of hitters is much different from the interpretation of pitchers. Some leagues I am in modify the hitters ratings and talents each season prior to the draft.

If you are importing fictional players (game created) I think it does a better job of distributing talents than Lahman's imports.

Just my impression.

no, my impressions are from using fictional players.

But if most of the big prospects bomb, there must be some way of guaging whether a player will pan out or not. Otherwise it's just a crapshoot.

Maybe that's realistic.
