Well that was fun I guess.....

I was pretty excited to see the beta was over and the game was officially launched. I opened my starter packs and was pretty happy with the couple "hits" I got in a solid closer and a legitimate outfielder. I then bought some bronzes on the AH and away I went.

I decided to plop down 10 bucks to improve my team and again, I was happy with the outcome. A day later and now what? I can't trade, there is no draft, 30 days into the season not a single player is tired or injured, and I'm not going to pay for another loot crate without some kind of incentive.

So is that it? Just keep depositing money daily and chase the ever elusive shinies? No opportunity to earn anything for free? No real skill involved what so ever unless you want to flip shinies on the AH?

I spent more on lunch today so no big deal, but I guess I'm done with this version of the game already.

The actual season hasn't even started, it's still just the entry pool. You do earn free PP from achievements that your team earns, and will continue to do so. You move into a league next week and there is promotion for the top teams. You really don't have to spend more money if you don't want to, but you can trade in the PP you've earned either at the auction house, or buying packs.

Right but the achievements are all one shot deals right? So you get 30 points for X achievement and can't ever repeat it. So after a full season you'll hope to make what? 550 or so points, which will buy you a backup infielder and then get absolutely pounded by the whales every week. Y'all have fun with that. I'll check back in at about the 3 month mark to see if they've added anything to at least resemble a strategic element.

The only achievements that are one-time shots are the 'first' achievements (first win, etc.). Otherwise, you should be able to earn the PP an achievement would give you every time you get it.

If you want to increase your chances at certain achievements, you can build your team a specific way since entry pool doesn't matter much anyways (like starting a bunch of speedsters and setting steal strats to aggressive values to try and get the steals-related achievements frequently).

Most of the achievements are repeatable. I have already had 3x double dingers and all hits, and a number of 2x in the month or so of games played. When you reach the regular leagues, there are rewards for player/pitcher of the month and all star game appearances.

During the 3 full beta seasons I earned enough for 19 packs (19,000 PP) over the 21 days. I know I was a bit luckier than others, but heard of some that did better.

achievements repeat. 2 home runs get you points every time it happens, as i recall. 4 hits in a game. etc. i'm probably not the right person tto discuss this anymore, since i am no longer playing PT, lack of time to devote to a team where i bought no points. but in beta - i kept getting points during the season - at times not a lot, and then i bought key players at auctions ... managed to keep .500 or better most of the time, made the play-offs once, just missed once.
i quit playing due to lots of personal and health things, but i was competitive to a degree. Even won 3 of 4 games against the team with the best record in my league. So, it can be done .. just depends how much you want to put into the game and try to build your team slowly, one player a week, or season, or whatever. at times i think Markus needs to issue mandatory kleenex rations for some of the threads lately. not this thread in particular, but the tone lately in general for some threads. After all, it's just a game and your enjoyment depends on what you want and expect from it, and how much effort you're willing to put into it to get there. And how much luck you can get drawing (or buying in packs or at auction) good cards with your points or money. but to the original point - the achievements keep coming for certain things your players accomplish. so you can build a good team without purchasing points - it just takes longer and a bit of skill to fix one weakness at a time.

An average team should pull in around 5k per week, maybe even a little more. And if you get lucky to throw a perfect game or another similarly rare occurance, you can pull in even more. People have posted threads about getting 7k in one single game.

I dunno, but you said you played the beta right? None of those things were in there (by the way, yeah players do tire), but it sounds like youre expecting more of the other side of ootp.. its like the ultimate team mode in sports game
