Purpose of Reserve players?

Besides to sell them or fill a spot when you sell an active player, I am not sure why I need so many reserve players?

I definately change out players during the season, pitching and hitting except of course for the STARS. Just me but in 2 seasons have never kept entire team for whole season. in & out

I feel like there are occasions when a player's cold spell is predictable so I'll replace guys in my roster to sit out a cold spell.

For example, I had a guy with a who had a BABIP of ~ .500 for a month and a half, then went completely cold. Once his hot streak ended, I replaced him with much lower rated player, but I was much better than waiting for the engine to snap his cold spell.

Yeah, using the reserve roster is definitely necessary for swapping out tired bullpen arms and guys on cold spells with reasonable level replacements.

And you'll run into stretches where your entire bullpen is tired. In those cases, i don't replace my closer or top setup man. But i will bring in some rested middle and long relievers.

I have a starter in long relief and in middle relief for use more often;. In 2 seasons my BP has never been shredded with exhaustion. Maybe I have been lucky.

i have a starter in long relief, too. But my middle relievers are relievers with low stamina. And once, or twice a season, i'll have a stretch where i'm playing 10+ games without an off day. And that will be when one of my starters gets knocked out in the third inning of one game, followed by a 16 inning game the next night. In other words, i'm not so lucky.
