this guys reputation...
as a LEGENDARY preventor of arm injuries is probably going to take a hit.I guess depending on how you look at it 11 pitchers out for the year with arm injuries is kind of legendary, just not in the way I would have hoped.

the ratings are accurate for scouts and trainers, as far as i know. so, i wouldn't get rid of him unless there was someone better available.
resutls vary. he is a factor, but not the only factor of injuries. he's a fairly small factor at that. nonetheless, pay for a good trainer just like scouts. upgrade when you can and retain, otherwise. if you have a small budget, this is one of the areas where skimping isn't a huge loss of value, and you can get ~above average cheaply. |

I'd be fascinated to see if someone IRL... like Rick Peterson (who had a reputation of keeping his pitchers healthy in Oakland/New York) would have pitchers suffer less injuries IRL. My guess is no. Human arms are not meant to throw 93-96 mph sliders, among other things.

how they handle things most definitely impacts injury frequency.
older-school thought likely plays through things. rub some dirt on it.. be a man, that type of irrational nonsense based on nothing but feelings and ego. smarter organizations would apply known historical data and medical knowledge to the context. understanding that taking 2-4 weeks off now means you won't hit below the mendoza line the rest of the year while trying to prove how big your d#ck is. not just stuff like that, but also preperation would be wise to include the input from the medical staff. you can reduce injuries in all sorts of ways with sophisticated well-thought out systems. the teams that let players play through injuries are also likely to be the archaic, dogmatic late-adopters, historically speaking... Hello, Detroit!!@# outisde of a desperate man's overspending, they are mostly r^tards when it come to running the organization. gardenhire is a good influence. read into his comments and even while trying to be nice about his employers, you can read between the lines and see the frustration with the incompetency of our MiL system and organization in general. still running like it's 1950, ffs. |
