Playoff Explanations

Would it be possible to get a breakdown of how each playoff system works. Just a simple who makes it, who gets reseeded, etc... I've been running a small custom league, trying a few different formats, and usually get surprised as the seedings are never what I expected when I choose the set up. Had one set up where it somehow went to a winner is based on total goals and not total series wins.
Have no idea what an FHL style is.

I have 2 custom leagues(54 and 60 teams) and would like too know the tie breaking procedures because with that many teams there are bound to be team's tied in the season ending standings.
