Rosters and Trading Question

Hello -

I am playing as GM for an Independent league. I am trying to trim payroll, so I trade players who aren't producing for their salary with prospects who do not make money and can sit on my reserve roster.

When I make the trade, the pop up indicates that the traded player went to reserve roster; however, it goes to active. Once a player goes to active, they get their salary minimum. This is problematic for trimming payroll.

Is there a setting to make sure any player i trade for goes to reserve so I can then use the payroll I save to sign the FA I want?
