Re-importing World Data

Okay,
I'm getting a bit confused. I exported world data from a previous game and I'm trying to import it into a new one. I replaced the original "world_default.xml" in the database folder with one I exported from the previous game, and re-imported from the database screen pull down menu. Nothing changes. I've never done this before, so am I missing something obvious? I'm working off the latest version.

I think the names.txt and first_names.txt get loaded, but not the world_default.xml. That's been my experience.

maybe cut and paste a section from the edited world.xml and replace a section in the destination world.xml?

i am fairly sure there are threads on this, if not '19 likely still viable. google with "site:http://www.ootpdevelopments.com" appended to search terms.
