Possible to export between fictional universes?

I have a 14-season fictional league and I have just finished the inaugural draft of another fictional league in a completely different universe. I was originally going to just retire the old league, but now I would really like to have the old league in the new universe after all (not in separate universes).

IS THIS POSSIBLE? Can I export a fictional league from my old universe into a new one? If so, I beg you for some steps on how to do so.

Here is what I have already tried. I have saved the old league as a template and tried adding that league template to my new universe. Everything looked good (i.e., player histories and career stats were intact) EXCEPT the salary history for each player was hideously wrong. For most of the players' salary histories, it would show team names that don't even exist in either universe.

Any help is much appreciated.

long story short -- yes, but not a 1-step process.

key things:

# of players should match or logically have more in the target league.

re-use playerID column from destination leagues exported players to copy over exported players form source league.

*** why: you cannot create a player through an import. we either don't get all the info from all the tables etc to 'make' a player on import. players can only be created in game. so, this process re-uses their playid's and replaces the rest of the data with 'your' players. names, height, dob etc all gets fixed, but playerids are re-used. you can even do this between ootp releases as long as formating of the exported file is the same. even with some differences some common senses solutions still exist -- e.g. when they added personality columns... you can simply give 100/200 to older players, or get really sophisticated and use the new player db to project the personality onto older versions of themselves in and older release, pre-existing league. or add empty columns and random values 1-200 etc etc...

a spreadsheet can make this work in a few seconds, if familiar in even a basic way. if not your cup of tea, i wouldn't bother. could look into creating a custom historic player import list... but with players from that league... still need an export and some editing of that file to make it work, i think. not sure which route is faster. i know the way i mention works for sure, not 100% about the 2nd way i just mentioned, though.

since you are dealing with ~5000 rows, understanding how to select ranges without a mouse is useful, too. click, shift-click and entire 5k column is selected, or type it into range field in top-left etc etc.

i have a longer, older post somehwere. maybe others have posted a step-by-step guide? google search "site:www.ootpdevelopments.com" with some keywords, if interested in that longer post..

I have never figured out how to get around this issue. I've created a league of imported MLB greats on an older version of OOTP, importing that as a template into any league creates a Real Life stat history with this problem. It's just something I put up with now, I'd love to know how to fix it though.

I'm afraid to continue with the attempt I've made after finding the salaries history errors. Have you seen any other adverse effects on the game due to this error, or is that the only problem and it is safe to play?

re-use playerids or you'll have all sorts of data base corruption.

edit:

hmm you used the import function within game (not an export csv, edit, import)...?

if the dates are different from source to target:

export the players (stats export?) and see if you can see the contract info... a column with a year, most likely will be key. you'll have to subtract or add difference between your league and source league to that column per player (if not all from same export year)

if that info isn't exported, beyond current contract, then not much can be done, i'd bet.

Are there detailed directions?

Are there any detailed directions on how to export players out of a fictional world and put them into another league?

I have a league with almost 200 years. Many great players which I would love to see play again or even together against real MLB.
