Entering position player to pitch in the AL

I have a position player who is a good pitcher. I was in the 13th inning of a 5-5 game. I wanted to move this player from LF to pitch (the game would not allow this step), while moving the 1B to LF and the DH to 1B. Presumably this is not allowed by rule? I know that if the DH bats in that situation that the 1B has to be replaced by the pitcher hitting.

So I guess I was wondering two things. First off, should I be allowed to do the above? And secondly, I tried to move the LF to the pitcher area to pitch on the substitutions screen. The game would not allow me to so I am assuming that by rule that can't be done? Is it a game bug or did I attempt to do something that is not within the rules?

I think. but may be wrong, that you must ditch the DH first before a position player can pitch. How you do that and if it is allowed in OOTP is unknown to me. I'll be in ST soon and try it.

This is absolutely legal and allowed, but it can be a little tricky to execute properly. You have to manipulate the lineup screen as dragging and dropping like a normal pitching change won't work. I believe the following order should work:

1. Click DH and assign him to -
2. Click LF and assign him to P
3. Click 1B and assign him to LF
3. Click - (original DH) and assign him to 1B.

There are other orders you can do it but I think if you try moving the DH from DH directly to 1B, it will insert the pitcher who's on the mound into the lineup in place of the original 1B.

Edit: Also don't hit the "remove DH" button, because that will just replace the DH in the lineup with the pitcher who is on the mound.
