Mixup in-game regarding different screens

Wasn't sure where to put this, but this seems like a technical issue.

I want to understand this, and if it's a glitch, it needs to be fixed. This is not the first time I've encountered this.

Online league, draft time, and scouting the rookies...

One player has these screens all about him.

(See the highlighted sections)

This front page screen is tuned to my scout, and this actual/potential star rating shows up on the larger screen that shows all players:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiwsjpZWOEDwi9YuXMaIVmjqnjBAWA

And here, the scouting screen says that the star rating on the front page and on the larger page is bogus:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiwsjpZWOEDwi9YvHcIE-M3AxBAQ-g

So why the difference? Is this a glitch, or is there some deeper meaning to the rating on the front page? And is there any way to ignore all that "deeper meaning" and just have my scout's unadulterated assessment show up?

Thanks in advance,

-Kilborn

Honestly, I'm not too sure what's going on here. Hopefully Matt might have a better idea.

We try to make sure that they're in sync. The most common disconnect is based on their position. The scouting page rating is based on a scout's view of their position. So it's listed as a SP there. The star ratings in other spots is based on a player's currently set position. So if they are currently set as a RP, then the profile page will show their talent ratings as a RP.

Matt/Lukas, that was for a guy who was listed at his primary position of SP. He had been created by the game as a historical player (Johnny Flanagan, 1918-1936). I hadn't changed his position in the editor. The league is Random Debut Baseball League headed by PDHitman.

This isn't an isolated instance. It isn't on every player, but based on a rough estimate, I'd say it's about 60% of the players, especially the 2.5-star potential players and up. I find differences throughout the players. I'll post a few more examples so you can see it. This has also been going on for several versions as I noticed this in 17 and 18.

The worst example is Warren Spahn listed as a 3.5 potential on the front page and a 1/2 star potential on the scouting page (last example).

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiwsjpZWOEDwi9YzruZXep4YLe_M_A

Most are 1/2 or 1 star off, but as you can see with Spahn and Flanagan, sometimes it's a major difference. And sometimes it leads to major differences in draft strategy and frustration.

Players who are only a 1/2 star off or so is mostly because when we fetch values, not everything is saved in the scouting report, so occasionally things will change slightly, and if a player happened to be on the border of a star rating, can move.

The cases where the values differ a lot, like Spahn, to me that looks like there was a bug in his scouting report. Would seem weird to have someone with his potentials be only a 1/2 star guy. Why the scouting report said that, I can't be sure.

I'd love to fix this for good sometime, and have things stay consistent. It's just a very complicated problem, so we'll keep working towards fixing things up. All I can really say is that what you see on the front page of a player's profile is the most up-to-date values, so I would certainly trust those over what is reported on the scouting report page, if there is a difference.
