Is it possible for a bullpen game?

Was wondering if this was a possibility in OOTP?

Um, it's not quite clear what you mean.

Can you explain further?

are you trying to do what the TB Rays are doing with an Opener? Or just go with a 4 man rotation and throw 3-4 RPs on day 5? The Opener concept may be hard if you sim because the AI will probably try to throw your Opener for more innings than Romo goes IRL. maybe pitch limits can help with that?

The bullpen day 5 concept you may be able to do if you utilize 7 day lineups and insert a random MR as the starter each week.

I am speaking to the bullpen day in which you use a 4 man rotation, and on the 5th day throw bullpen guys. Is this possible? Sorry for not explaining farther

I assume you are simulating chunks of games and not playing out your games or simulating day-by-day. In that case, the only way that I know would be to set a five-man rotation with a long reliever in the fifth spot. That's not really what you want.

You could simulate four days and then designate a reliever for the fifth and quick play the game. After the game, move the reliever back to the bullpen slot leaving the fifth slot blank and sim four more days.

Well, it’s certainly easy to do if you play out your games.

If you prefer to sim, as koohead mentioned there are some options but it might be challenging. It feels like you should be able to accomplish this with seven day lineups though. But that would involve adjusting your lineup every seven in game days.

I might suggest creating a small test league, then play around with some of the settings.

If you are playing out games, you can start whichever pitcher you like. Be careful when you start the game though or the AI will stick you with whichever starter it picks.

If you sim, I think you could do this with 7-day lineups, right? Or even just (temporarily) put whichever reliever you want to pitch first in the appropriate rotation spot for that turn.

Wasn't there discussion on here recently about the value of stamina ratings? Something to the effect of a stamina of 30 (out of 100) doesn't relate to the max number of pitches that pitcher can throw. It depends on whether they start the game or come in relief. e.g. a pitcher that starts a game with 30 stamina could still throw 4+ innings without getting tired while a reliever with 30 stamina won't go much beyond an inning. If that is the case then having a reliever start a game wouldn't give the intended effect through a sim as the AI will leave them in longer than the user may want (3+ innings). Instead, a forced pitch count may be the better alternative. If I am incorrect about how stamina ratings are utilized please correct me!

This is an online league so that makes things a bit tougher.

So, I set it up in 7 day lineups and put the hook quicker, but is there a way to get the game to use my long reliever instead of basically having every reliever throw one inning.

Since I play a lot of doubleheaders a lot of my games are bullpen games. All the pitchers are tired all the time so I switch them with fresh arms on the reserve roster.

I would love to have rosters of nothing but long relievers but with todays MLB's love affair with the one inning reliever that probably wont be possible.
