Exclamation Lagging Or Freezing On Patch 70?

If you're still having trouble with freezing or lagging on patch 70, can you try these steps first?

First, be sure to update your video card drivers as this could potentially fix or alleviate the problem.

The next step is to make sure that the latest patch installed correctly, as if it didn't for some reason, that could be what's responsible for the issues.

So please try this. Open the game, go to settings > troubleshooting > and click on the button 'force game data re-installation'.

Restart the game (even your system as well to be sure) and try again.

If you're still having lagging or freezing issues then please post here with the following info:

A short description of exactly what's happening and when/where the lagging and or crashing happens.

Whether this just started in patches 68-70 or if it's been happening longer.

Your system specs (especially OS, video card and processor info).

Whether you're on Steam, Origin or the standalone.

Finally, if possible can you get us a trace file from your game?

To generate that on a Windows PC, do the following:

If you're on Steam, right-click on your game in the Steam library, then Properties, and on the General menu click on 'Set Launch Options' and enter the word "tracemode" (without quotes.).

If you have the standalone, right-click on the OOTP19 shortcut on your desktop, click on properties and add 'tracemode' to the command line

Then try to start the game again. Get it to crash.

After it does so, navigate to the following folder: Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 19\debug

Find the trace file there and post with the rest of your information. That should have some data that will help us figure out why the game is crashing.

Thanks!

I just did everything listed & sent the email with the specs from liberty thunder. I played a game & everything, hope it showed the long delay between plays & screens on the trace, and also that long non-responsive message when trying to select a pitcher to warm up at the start of the 8th. Using steam. The lagging started at the initial recent patch and even still at the .70. It sometimes acts like there's an overlay screen that takes a bit to get through to the game screen. It's weird.

Starting with the recent patches, I have had lag when switching screens, clicking on players, clicking on emails. This improved with 70 but it still takes 2 seconds for each click. In addition, when I click on options under the league drop down it can take from 5 to 15 seconds to access the screen. I have had the whole program disappear from my computer, including icon in windows tray, then reappear after a few seconds. I do not play out games and only play in online leagues, so I can't comment on slow downs or crashes there. I will email you the debug, but not sure that it will give any insight on slow downs.

One other thing, I re-installed files as you asked and a couple days ago when Markus asked me to. Both times the re-install set the windowed mode to user defined. This causes about a 15 second delay when min/maxing the window and is fixed when you switch back to "default" on window size. It seems like default would be the default.

Steam version.

Lukas-

I loaded up the game today and got a notice that tracemode would slow my game. I forgot that I set tracemode in Steam and went to settings/troubleshooting to turn it off. Not seeing a toggle, I clicked on the reset button.

Suddenly all my lag issues are gone! Not sure what changed, but happy it did.

But I started tracemode because I had lag switching screens. Tracemode didn't make it worse, but hitting "reset" in settings/troubleshooting fixed the lag...

We've been doing a lot more testing on this today and are finding that in many cases where this has still been happening, the issue is likely a video card driver compatibility issue.

So for everyone this is still happening to, is your video card updated with the latest drivers? I know this was mentioned above already, but it's really important to double and even triple check.

And just as a note, if you have a program that updates the drivers for you, and so are assuming they should be updated because of the program, please check manually and make sure they actually are updated. We've had a couple cases where programs like that weren't actually updating the drivers correctly, and once folks did so manually, the problem was solved.

If you do update the drivers and that doesn't fix the issues though, please let us know.

Sometimes settings do weird things, especially depending on how exactly they're triggered. Like, I know that the tracemode will do different things depending if you have restarted the game or not. So sometimes it needs the hard kick to make sure it gets shut off properly and not cause issues.

So I really appreciate the help from you guys.

Throwing this out there: so I reinstalled with 70 and windowed mode came up as user defined. When I hit reset it switched to maximum. Is it possible that you guys changed a setting while troubleshooting and that change came through on the patch? I don't know if this is possible.

At any rate good luck with those still having issues.

A couple other people have mentioned this as well, so I think it's definitely possible. I mentioned it to the rest of the crew, so we'll see

We didn't change any settings, but there's always a chance that in the upgrade/install process something got altered in the settings that we store, which could affect the behaviour. Certainly anyone experiencing issues should at least take a quick check through to make sure that the settings haven't changed.

This just reminded me that my computer hates playing this game in windowed mode.. you gave me one last thing to check, when I get home, before my computer becomes a coffee table coaster.

After many many hours of trying to get the game to work I was getting dressed to go buy a new computer at 9 pm. Then I remembered my kid has a laptop that he killed the HD on..been sitting in his room for weeks and he didn't care if I fixed it or not. So I just claimed it as mine and put my hard drive in it. Uninstalled OOTP19 and then reinstalled.

AND IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY!! I don't even have to turn the graphics settings down now. Hate the touch screen and can't figure out how to get the mouse pointer from jumping around but I can play again... and that is very exciting for me.

Still having issues with game.

Game play is fine, it is in the lineup screens -- both in pregame when setting the lineup and in midgame when making substitutions and position changes-- where it is crashing.
I know you said there was an issue with my graphics card -- it seems to be outdated -- but there is anything else that can be done.
It's hard to believe that game play with so much more animation runs, for the most part all right, while the lineup sceens which are mostly static crash as much as they do.

So we do have something new for you guys that should help.

If you are having lagging issues still, please open the game and go to (settings -> semi transparent background -> and make sure that is disabled)

If the background is enabled, it can take a lot of time and processing power and especially on slower computers will definitely slow things down noticeably.

Now it's worth noting, that this is likely not the specific issue that caused the build 64 problems, we're still working on that, but it is something that will speed up the game for all users and hopefully will significantly cut down on the lag for those of you who are having lagging and have the background turned on.

Going to try and go through some of the solution posted. The recent patch on Origin did not fix anything for me. Still get a 2 second lag between every action. This is especially frustrating in game where I like play-by-play at times and basically makes it unplayable.

I have a really strong computer and CPU, RAM, GPU usage are all not even close to 100% at any time. I've already cleared caches and limited how many reports are saved to see if that would help but no dice.

Edit:

Semi-transparent background did not fix it.

Data re-installation didn't work.

Went to full screen instead of windowed and that didn't fix it.

Updated GPU drivers, didn't work.

One thing you can try that's helped a couple folks who still had some slow gameplay in-game would be to try playing a game in classic 3d mode rather than modern 3d. Is that any quicker?

It is faster when initiating a play but afterwards there's still lag when repopulating the "Controls" section from the Play by Play announcer. There's also still lag in the menus of the game.
