Shop Players Update

The new update with improvements to the "Shop a Player" feature is very much welcome. However, I was wondering if there are still plans to make this feature slightly more robust, namely in the area of teams offering multiple players for whatever you shop, rather than just one for one (or now one for however many you shop).

I also appreciate the new update. But it does seem like more of a salary dump feature. Get rid of 5 unwanted salaries to receive one player. There should be an option to have the computer offer more players. Cash should be considered as well.

That hasn't been my experience. I spent a good two hours the other night shopping some players on my 40-man roster who aren't good enough to start for me, but are borderline second-division starters. I was looking for a right-handed center fielder who plays good defense. I was getting lots of offers of players on minor league contracts or reasonable big league contracts ($2M or less per year).

I think when it begins to appear to be a "salary dump" feature is when you try to trade an established big leaguer making good money in exchange for prospects. In this case, it's better to use the shop feature to identify teams who might want your player, then negotiate for prospects in the trade screen itself.

Five days since the last response ought to be long enough to preclude derailing this thread which I want to use to give a "thumbs up" to this feature. This will save bundles of time when you are looking for something specific. You are provided with several choices to look at rather than wading through dozens on a long list.

Well done. I am very glad that OOTPD persevered with fixing the recent patch problems so that I could advance from 19.7.59 to 19.8.79 in order to enjoy this new feature.

Curious - what is the new update? Being able to shop multiple players in one deal?

It was listed on the 19.7.64 patch announcement but they took it down when that patch was suppressed due to technical difficulties. I still have the latest newsletter though:

New shop player options: You can shop multiple players at once, retain salary, and set basic search criteria. Limit 5 shops daily, 10 during winter meetings and before the trade deadline

Awesome thanks, I have not played frequently in a little bit so I have not looked at patch notes.

My pleasure, and I emphasize what made me come here to post: "set basic search criteria." That's the most useful thing about it.
