Historical Positional Ratings
I started a historical game starting in 1871, and I just finished 1872. Going into 1872 I had a backup catcher who had a 50 rating at catcher and 60 at right field. After the season his ratings became a 45 at catcher and a 20 at right field, despite the fact he ended up winning a gold glove at right field. I have this happen every time I play a historical save. I once drafted jimmy foxx as a catcher with solid defensive ratings and in a couple years, his catcher rating went down to 0 and his first base rating went from 30 to 65 despite only catching and playing fairly well. Why does this happen? I havnt changed any of the historical settings, but it seems like the game is trying to duplicate how they play in real life, rather than in the game

Do you have ratings recalculated based on real stats?

Yes, that is probably the default, but you can change it to solve your issue. If you uncheck the box that says to recalculate ratings, then your player's fielding ratings will develop from whatever he imports with and be influenced by his playing time (just like fictional players develop). This setting can be changed during the league creation wizard, or after the league is created. If you change it now in an existing league, it will not correct the past but will stop changes going forward.
