If I wanted to play the game as pure stat sim...

So if set the Player Eval AI Settings like below

Ratings Weight 0

Current Yr Stat Weight 100

Previous Yr Stat Weight 0

2 Yrs Ago Stat Weight 0

And turned player development off

Would the game effectively play just using the players stats for whatever historical year you are playing.

I would think you would want rating weights to be set to 100% if you want to try to mimic real life stats. During the season they will have hot and cold spells around those ratings and it will balance out as the season goes on.

I am kind of guessing but with current year stats set at 100%, I THINK players start the season based on their ratings but at some point kicks over to their current stats. So if a player starts out hotter than their real life stats indicate, they will likely have a “hot” season. If a player starts out colder than their real life stats indicate, they will likely continue to have poorer stats for the year.

I have never seen this explained by anyone in the know, just a lot of speculation.

The ratings will still be there, but they wont be used. Why would you set "ratings" to 100% if you wanted performance based on actual stats?

Well, by actual stats I thought you meant real life stats. If you mean current year OOTP stats then select then select current year stats-100%. Or do whatever you like.
I am out of here.

You don’t seem to understand how ootp functions. It is all by the actual values in the player edit tab. If it’s a historical game they come from that years stats.
How you set ratings is just how the ai will value players has nothing to do with how in game statistics will be generated.

Well, maybe I am sort of wrong. Looking at old post those Options (ratings, current, last year, 2 years ago) have nothing to do with how a player will perform. Those settings are supposedly used by the AI to determine how to value a player for trading purposes, etc..

They way I see it, if I play a replay of year 2000, with 100% given to "current year stats", then the game will use the end of year real-life stats from 2000 to determine the players performance in my 2000 replay. So if a player hit .300 with 20 hrs in 2000, then he should end up close to those numbers in the replay.

Are you sure? I see a big difference in the few leagues Ive simmed using the default compared to what I posted.
