Former players coaching their teams/fan interest
One other suggestion I have on an unrelated note to my filter/sort thread, so I made it separate -
It is nice when you get notifications about retired numbers, hall of fame voting, etc. for former players. But you don't get notifications when former players can become available as coaches (I don't think? Unless that's just never happened to me - I've just randomly stumbled across those guys mixed in with fictional staffers)
It's very common for former players to become coaches/managers of that team. Craig Counsell on the Brewers, Joe Torre on the Yankees, Robin Ventura with the White Sox, Brad Ausmus with hte Tigers, for instance.
I think it would be really cool and easy to have some element of this in OOTP. Reputation doesn't seem to have enough effect as it is. For instance, personnel could have a national/local popularity rating tied to this. People were excited when Theo Epstein took over the Cubs operation, for good reason. Hiring a famous or well-reputed coach could affect fan interest (and vice versa for losing a beloved long-time local fixture), or hiring a previous hometown hero slugger to become your batting coach for a new generation of stars, etc.
