Playing historical league & minor league teams disappear
It's historical, great, but how am I meant to deal with no longer having a rookie-league-level team?
Also, what do I do with the 73 guys suddenly on my A-ball team? I think I saw that their ratings won't suffer too bad, but I definitely wanted to see how they'd progress on the field. What's the right move here? Can I go in and add a rookie team, or would it mess with the minor league historical shuffle? My rookie league team vanished in the off-season... will one come back in spring training or something? Last edited by torpidbeaver; 05-29-2018 at 03:05 AM. |

If you are playing historical minors, this is working as intended. The minor league teams come and go depending upon history. You can look up the affiliation history for your franchise to check if the rookie team did cease operations and see what will happen in the future.

Totally, I get that, but I'm not sure if
a. my minor league players will suffer for having to compete with a roster of 50-60 players on one team, and b. if I go in and add an extra minor league team as a stop-gap, will that disrupt the historical progression in a way that will prevent my minor leagues changing back to a "full" minor league system (rookie, low-A, A, high-A, etc)? Also, I'd love to know how others have handled this particular issue. Is this not a big deal? Should I not care that my young guys are going to be strapped to the roof and hanging off the bumper on the team bus to away games? |

To answer your first question probably not. But you will likely have to adjust your roster and preferences to make sure the right players get the bulk of the playing time.
The second question, i don't know. I've never tried to do that. I suspect if you go in and create a team that team will stay in the league you put it in for as long as that league is around. However, the schedule may have to be rebuilt every time the league configuration changes as time progresses. In a historical game the schedules are not generated the same way as in a fictional game. I believe they are following actual historical schedules which means your team will be left off unless you manually intervene. Which, for a rookie league, will be a lot. Especially pre-1990. I'm guessing adding a team will be more trouble than it's worth. There is a spreadsheet in your OOTP folder called MiLBMaster. If you have Excel or Quattro you can make a macro to show you all the minor league teams that will be in your system and when you'll have them so at least you can plan your player development a little bit better. |
