Season Progression - New Fictional Historical League ??
OK, I'm porting a thirty year league to OOTP. Although I've learned a lot in the last few weeks I still have a few questions.
I set up my existing 18-team major league. I've also set up complete minor league systems. I've also added a 12-team independent major league. I've imported our existing rosters of 1200 major and minor league players. Thanks to some tips I was able to complete most of the task using my existing database and the game's export/import functions. (THANKS!) I've also created schedules for all the leagues. Now... My plan is to mimic the real-life MLB timeline. If I purchase the update every year, how will this impact ratings and progression? Will the player ratings update to the new season's game roster? Or, will the ratings be recalculated according to my settings in the Historical Player Ratings (set to three years with the current year stats double weighted)? What residual impact will player development in the current season (if any) have next year? What about during spring training? When we complete the current season (based on the 2018 Opening Day Rosters), what happens to player ratings? Do they change before the free agent period or will they stay the same until I purchase the update in game update in 2019? How does the league evolve over the off-season? If I buy the update each year, will this ensure I will only have real life amateurs and international free agents available during both those signing periods? I believe I have all fictional player creation options turned off. Is there any way for me verify this (so I can delete those players)? My intention in creating the independent league was to have the remaining free agent major leaguers move to the league and not remain free agents. I have made it possible for the major to purchase the independent league players. I want to stock the independent league with the AI? How do I run a draft of the remaining free agents without it impacting the players already signed to contracts? Thank you very much in advance! Last edited by whaleheader; 04-30-2018 at 09:47 AM. |

these are historical players? used ootp ratings?
as long as you don't surpass the most recently completed season when the league was created, it will be able to recalc ratings as per historical results. there's an import from previous release function from main screen, so that's easy enough. if you do surpass it, you probably want to turn the developement engine back on, i'd assume. importing to a new version with an 'old' league won't have new rosters, nor the new amatuers.. .you'd have to export/import draft classes and re-use ID's etc etc. or some extra hoops to go through to do it, but can be done. you'd have to becareful of duplicates in successive years as you may have drafted players the previous year when the real teams did not do so. delete any matching names in comparing 2 exported files before and playerid hack. ratings and 'developement' depends on your settings how the ratings are created/calculated each year and whether you want the developement portion of the game in effect. not neccessarily exclusive of each other, but one would limit the other's effect. ST - knocks of rust from offseason layoff. ip and ab are the counter per manual - maybe? (check manual, it mentions specific incremental factor it checks.) if development enging is off, you won't have changing ratings between re-calcs. or however you have it set up as intended. as far as residual impact, it won't be permanent if you recalc the ratings per setting in some incremental way, or if it's just at creation of player and meant to allow some random developement and evolution etc. when/if any re-calc of their ratings occurs it will reset it, so to speak. there's an option somewhere that says 'prevent fictional player from making the mlb" [sic] -- at minimum verify that. otherwise, you just have to click through the settings if you want to verify that. any list someone tries to create for you will bound to be missing something. gamesettings, and each tab under league settings deserve a quick glance except the obvious ones - database, structure etc. i've never tried to set anything up like that, but some combination of league rep/quality, salary options, region and timing of events like FA - et al.
