Fatigued Players Starting on AI Teams
Fictional league. Is there anyway to get the ai to replace fatigued starters for a game without going into commissioner mode? How do I turn off "never"? Every ai team has this issue.

There was a patch that went out about this in the morning. The AI will make better decisions now but I'm not sure the change happens immediately. You might have to advance to another day first or wait until these teams make a roster change.

Yeah I just installed the hotfix patch this morning, will keep an eye on it. Funny thing is the fatigue didn't seem to affect their performance... as both players in question hit a homerun in the game lol.

To be honest, I don't understand the "Never" option in the first place. What's the point of even putting someone in a depth chart slot and setting his play time to "Never" .. if I wanted him to "Never" use him as a back-up in a particular slot, wouldn't I just not put him in ?
Is easy enough for me to not have to worry about, as I can set up my depth chart how I see fit - but seems like it would be harmful for the AI managers. |

Does the latest patch mean you need to start a new game?

No, I think that doesn't keep him from playing at all, in either OOTP 18, which I have, or 19, but it means he isn't supposed to start any games at all. Not sure, but that's what I suspect. CD out.

Are you saying setting a guy to "Never" means you want the manager to not start him ever, but (ex .. ) pop him in once in a while in the 4th inning ? Why would that be a thing ? And,it shouldn't be pinch hit, or defensive subs - because there are already places for those decisions on the depth chart screen. |

maybe the starter gets hurt and that's who you want to replace him with. maybe there is a double switch. maybe there is a pinch runner and then a defensive substitution is needed. any number of things really

It seems to me it has not been fixed. I'm seeing guys sitting because if fatigue then they get put in the game to pinch hit then they are not able to play the next game. It's getting annoying.

There were multiple issues before the patch. I think that's creating some confusion. The part about the AI setting some backups to never start appears to have been fixed.
The pinch hitting affecting fatigue seems to still be a problem. I'm sure they'll get it straightened out. |

Saw that in my game too. Buster Posey was at 0% and starting. I set the team's backup to when starter is tired, and he was off the rest of the series.

Just to update, after about 10 games the patch seems to have fixed this issue as no teams have "never" selected in the depth chart. Mostly, "if starter tired". Which is where it should be, so at least for me I believe this patch fixed my problem.

never - i use this on my catcher in the playoffs. whereas in the reg season i use every 4th or 5th day for backup catcher in regular season -- depends on quality of the player
(that may not jive with a normal mlb 162g schedule. i have a slightly nicer schedule than the real MLB thouhg... 6on/1off this is 100% consistent, compared to the mlb which averages ~9on and 1 off and inconsistent when it occurs.) never will cause a guy to run until coplete exhaustion before being subbed (<5%? not sure when this exact line is drawn). this will only happen with a C ~99% of the time with normal fatigue related settings. like others alluded to, you still want to set up a bckup in case of injury or extreme fatigue - "totally exhausted" or whatever hte exact syntax from game is. "if tired" is a higher fatigue % threshold. best guess: by color code/syntax that you see.. the orange, maybe? probably one color/systax change up form the lowest. with my custom schedule it never occurs but with a regular mlb schedule it may for non-catchers, if i recall... e.g. 20game stretches or longer, which never happen in my leagues. (that's tv related causes... unacceptable for me that some teams have to endure longer and more frequent stretches than others for such a silly cause) Krownroyal -- that's a current known problem. thought it was fixed in last patch, but somethign they are 'fixing' if it is still occuring. (the pinch hitting thing causing someone not to rest etc etc which then causes them to start way less than normal and constantly used as PH) workaround for your controlled team at least... - individual strats for the players, click "never use as ph when tired" Last edited by NoOne; 04-15-2018 at 07:23 AM. |
