Which is more reliable in scouting?
Betweeen OSA and head scout, which is more reliable when scouting players in the draft? There’s some players in the draft where my scout rates them poorly while OSA rates them highly. Like one example in the 2019 draft is rece hands a shortstop. My scout gives him a mediocre 2 star rating but OSA gives him a 5 star rating. What is OSA and what does it stand for by the way?

OSA is basically a consensus of 20-something sportswriters who weren't even good enough to get hired by Vox. Trust your scout more than them. Your scout is not, of course, infallible.

picking the osa over a well-funded and good scout is like betting against the odds in vegas. don't do it. i wouldn't even look at it unless you can prove that it helps in that specific context over time...
prove that it somehow improves your odds in a decision instead of just clouding it with less accurate data. i don't think it's true, but it might be possible in an extreme and unusual situation? |
