Importanting historical players

I don't think the behavior of this is OOTP 19 I had it in OOTP18. I put OOTP 18 on shelf waiting for 19 sooooo I am back. Thanks btw for adding females as GMs.

Ok here is problem. Every now and again... I like to mix it up add someone to my team who just is a player I liked. Problem is I notice their stats and truly their development is isn't following true to life (I don't think?). Sometimes not even close.

Example <3 Andre Dawson. I brought him to Cubs. Played couple years and just didn't turn out too great of a player. Average I would say at best. Also I notice I would import him from same year (think 1977?) and he would land on free agent market with completely different stats from one import another. I think I am doing it wrong.

I been importing the using both master list found in game files of historical players and Baseball Reference? Which should I be doing? The results seem to be the same.

What is really throwing me off is during import of new player using same year they have completely different stats. His "eye" will be 3 one import and 8 the next for example.

I rarely do this and would like to bring them in younger and watch them grow as other players in my standard game do (I push my dev budget to max). How do I set that way. I mean I do like the random chance he could be better than he was in RL (so unlikely) yet random chance he be somewhat worse. But at least keep him relative to type of player he was.

I hope I am making sense. I am confused.

Any help?

Just use the editor to tweak them to what you think they should be. Keep in mind what might seem "wrong" to you could be perfect to someone else. Also make sure you have recalc off and just use the development engine so you don not see big changes in short periods of time.

Enjoy!

Need recalc on to keep player somewhat similar to real-life counterpart though, which is what daniwen wants (at least I think I read that correctly).

I have had it set on the default which I guess means without recalc. I guess I need to turn that on? I have it set to use historical draft after this season (this my first full season I am going into in OOTP 19). I think I just need to click that box Thanks!

On the right hand side of the page in the accompanying picture, there is a box that says: "Recalc player ratings..." Make sure that is checked and select 1, 3, or 5-year recalc. This page can be found at Game > Game Settings > League Settings > Historical > Historical Player Ratings
