I am wondering if it is possible to download the game on both my desktop and laptop computer...and be able to play the same saved game from either location? (With the same key code)

Yep. The license allows for two installations. The only exception would be of one of your devices is running Linux, which has a separate licensing mechanism.

You won't be able to play the same saved game file unless you copy it over to the other computer. So pretty much you need to copy the file every time you want to play it on another device.

I'm hoping one day to have a cloud database to access it.
