Too early to really make a judgement on this feature yet, but I would keep a close eye on this new "hook setting." I'm currently playing a straight historical 1947, I started to notice that the AI sure seemed to be using a lot of relief pitchers. Stubby Overmire for Tigers had 60+ innings and 34 appearances. So, I checked my league strategy settings and to my surprise the game had set up hook settings for both starters and relievers. I changed this back to default and I seem to be getting more 1947 like usage.

I think from this point forward, I will check the hook settings on opening day each season.

I may have to read the manual to determine what the "hook" strategies are, I thought if you pick the year for strategy then the game will automatically set up the pitching strategy. Could it be a bug?

I'm not sure if it's a bug. I think this feature may have been a late addition, so maybe the kinks just need to be worked out. I just know what I was seeing wasn't looking right.

David, what did the AI change the RP Hook Setting to? Quicker or slower?

Mine was quicker with starters and slower with relievers. It works tremendously when you have both settings set to "Default", but it seems to love resetting them. Every. Single. Year.

Ugh, I changed it to default so fast I can't remember exactly. I want to say relief pitcher was +2 and starter was -3.

Starter -3 or -4...Reliever +2.

Yessir. Every year when I do the "1984" thing, both settings go from Default to -3 or -4 for starters (quick), and +2 for relievers (slow). I just set them back to Default and head into the season. The one time I didn't SP innings dropped about 20 IP across the board, which does not make action happy.
