How do you run multiple tournaments with the same teams?

I want to have two different sets of tournaments during the season for my P/R league. I set up gaps in the schedule to accommodate this. I want a pair of tournaments to run early in the season (one for the top two tiers of the league and one for the bottom two tiers). Then I want a tournament later in the season that includes all of the teams from the league. Since teams can’t be assigned to multiple tournaments at the same time, I understand that I have to remove the teams from the first set of tournaments and add them to the second set. (This is something I would love to see changed. It would really be nice to just be able to create multiple tournaments and just let them run.) The problem I encountered when trying to do this for the first time is that when I removed the teams from the first tournament, the slots for adding teams went away. When I clicked add new team, it created a new team for the tournament instead of allowing me to select a team from one of the associated leagues. Is there a way to just deselect teams or do I have to completely rebuild the tournament from scratch every time? Is there an easier way to do this? Any help would be appreciated.

After a little more experimenting, it looks like the teams the game “creates”when I add a new team to the tournament are dummy teams without players or anything that can be replaced with real teams in the drop down menu. After I replace them, it appears that they disappear completely and shouldn’t mess up my league history or anything. Hopefully I’m right about that. It’s a little clunky but it doesn’t appear to be quite as problematic as I first thought.

I would still obviously prefer an easier way to have teams compete in multiple tournaments in the same season. I would be nice to not have to manually add and remove teams from each tournament every season.

I tried this, and when I removed a team from the first tournament I got a message about removing the team and all players being FA, etc - and it reset the standings for the league (about 36 League games had been played - everyone reset to 0-0 - even though all the season stats were still there!)...

What was your experience like?

I just removed the players from the first tournament in a test sim and before starting the process of adding them to the other tournament I checked the various league standings. Everything looks ok for me at this point. I tried slimming forward a couple of days to make sure they didn’t disappear at that point and the standing still seem to be correct.

So you removed players individually - that’s massive, and really not worth it...

For now it was much safer and simpler to limit teams to only be in one tournament at a time. But that's likely something that once we get a little more comfortable and have gotten rid of the bugs in tournament code should be able to let teams participate in multiple tournaments.

I ran multiple seasons and it looks like if you add the tournament during the season, it's an issue, but if you have it all preset in the preseason, teams move OK - I tried a three-tiered, staggered tournament and it worked ok.

Now, if they can get the tournament histories to show only tournament records...
