Playing Game on Multiple Devices

New user and my apologies in advance for my lack of knowledge with this but need some help.

I have an external hard drive and would like to play the game on two different Macs (one desktop and one laptop).

Will I need to install the game on both devices or can I just install it on the external drive? I currently have the game on the external. The laptop is recognizing the game save but when I attach the drive to the desktop it does not.

Install and license (this is legal as your license is good for 2 installs) the game on both devices. Just transfer your ".lg" folder between devices.
