Exclamation Bug- Relief Pitcher Logical Loop

I don't think I could have *tried* to create this problem, I just wandered into it:

So I got to the end of the eighth and I was ready to bring in my closer from the bullpen.

It said he was still "warming up", so to buy him time, I put in a cold relief pitcher.

However, when the game finished processing the eighth and I actually got to the ninth, my relief pitcher showed as "warm", so I dragged him from the bullpen over the pitcher's spot.

The game said that my pitcher must face at least one batter. Fine. But the problem was that it had taken the "P" away from the lineup spot and did not recognize that player as a pitcher. I right-clicked to assign him a spot and lo and behold, there was no "P" option, just the other eight positions.

I tried clicking on "Continue Game" only to be told my lineup was incomplete. So I could not assign the current player in the spot as a pitcher and I couldn't move him out because he had to face at least one batter. Logical loop with no way out, so I had to lose my game (I was up 6-1 at this point as well!) and end-task the program.

Bottom-line: you need to add the ninth spot "P" as assignable when you right-click in the lineup or make it so that the "P" assignment does not go away to the existing slot when an illegal substitution attempt is made.

Thx!

Had the reliever faced one batter? The current "work around" for this is to switch to view your opponent and then the lineup screen will be back as it was...."I think", I've not seen this happen. Even though I play 90% of my games out.

Sorry, definitely tried that originally and I doublechecked it again just now, and it does not work.

You can recreate the problem very easily: even before the first pitch is thrown, try and put in a sub. The "P" is taken away from the existing pitcher and you can not either sub for him (has not faced a batter) or re-assign him as the pitcher ("P" is not a position you can assign by right-clicking).

I don't see a workaround at this point with the gameplay as-is.

Thx for the reply!
