TotalMinors v1: Release Or Wait For Contracts
Hey guys,
Scott just got me a contract list for money and length. Since I already pushed v1 back a week, I don't want to delay it any more unless the board supports it. The last two things that could make it into v1 are adjusted speed, arm, steal ratings and contracts. I could do the ratings adjustments tonight and tomorrow and release v1 Sunday night as planned. Or I could wait until Monday or Tuesday and get the contracts in too. This would let guys who don't need full minors (since I'll be adding more prospects by opening day) to start a franchise. I have the league totals adjusted so the results are VERY close to last year (within 5% in most sims) so the ratings look really good (some will probably be tweaked by opening day, but it's very good as it is). Anyway, I will do the ratings first, then the contracts. If most people by, say 6 p.m. tomorrow, say to release v1 as is and hold contracts until v2, I'll put v1 out tomorrow night. Otherwise give me an extra day or two and I'll get the contracts in. It's up to you. I just don't want to delay again without running it by the board because I don't want anyone being skeptical given the problems of last year's set and its delays. So let me know and I'll do whatever is popular. Thanks again for the interest and support. GH |

I say release now, since after the initial player contract is over(whatever the amount or number of years) the game will make adjustments to them anyway.

I voted to wait.
I am tinkering with a franchise right now, and that will keep me busy until v1 is ready! ![]() Either way, thanks for the work. |

I'm waiting for v2 either way...So I don't really have much of a preference.
If I had to choose, I'd lean towards releasing them and putting Contracts in v2. BTW...any estimate on when v2 will be ready? |

I say release it now. As Steve mentioned the game will make big adjustments to player contracts as soon as their initial contract expires. To me all the effort keying in contracts could be better spent focusing on ratings and adding more minor leaguers.

I guess that I am confused why there is even a poll about this...
Why not release what you have done and let those who are losing sleep over your rosters get them (Yes I am included) and then release version 2 or whatever when you have the contracts and stuff done.... Just an idea. Either way though, I am going to download them the second I see them available. |

Those who try to base their OOTP finances on MLB will soon see that there are big differences. We have NEVER tried to make OOTP mirror the MLB financial system(read MESS)....it is a part of OOTP to make the challenge deeper and more fun. So IMO all of the work on making the contract "an exact match" isn't worth the time that it takes to adjust them.

I'll keep letting this thread go. I see both sides of it. The game will adjust salaries after the initial contracts, this is true. But I also know guys like at least starting with contracts that at least represent the real ones in some fashion. OOTPs salaries seem reduced for the most part, and grismosw's reduced salaries seem to work pretty well from what I've seen. Like I said, I'll do the ratings first and tomorrow night we'll see where we're at.
Thanks for the feedback. GH |

Easy one for me. Release now. If OOTP tried to mimic an exact replica of MLB economic structure then it would be more of a big deal for me.
I think its cool though you are taking the time to put them in though. |

Now please
I don't really care what individual contracts are, as long as they aren't ridiculously off.

Contracts are important though, because its not the same if A-Rod and others are free agents next year when someone like A-Rod is wrapped up for the next 10 years..plus it adds realism if your the Rangers and have 25% of your cap room taken up because of him.. anyways, i think you should release one now, and then one with contracts on tuesday.. what would it hurt to have a 1.1 version persay??
