Need help understanding 3 Player Development options when starting new season
Ive tried the manual, but sorry OOTP, its terrible and I can never find what Im looking for.
Could someone please give me a simple explanation of the differences of the 3 choices on Step #3 of the Historical League Creation Wizard under "Historical Career Play" when you are starting a new historical season. Thanks. Last edited by Xogo; 03-03-2018 at 07:00 PM. |

which part do you need clarity on? the creation wizard is the same stuff, possibly even a couple less options then you'll have when league begins, if like fictional wizards. i.e. not al the "Global Settings" you see in game are available during creation. only 1 or 2, if i recall are missing. if developement and "re-calc" related it would totally depend on your opinions of a few subjects. recalc based on stats each year - straight forward. ho many years are included in this "re-calc" 1-3-5 doubling weight of current year will likely make them perform a bit more closely to that year's output... so if a guy was up and down in real life, he's more likely to have that roller coaster ride as opposed to more random in nature. real stats or neutralized stats? do you want park factors ignored or not? (not limited to park factors, all reasons why playing one place might be different than playing another) ** it won't 100% live up to what it says in the manual. that presupposes a firm understanding and that we aren't also including other factors like injuries or what have you of smaller samples used. even era and equipment is key... once you break it down to ~10 years and ~1 park, it's not so precise anymore. from a standpoint of evaluation, i love neutralized stats. from the standpoint of creating ratings, not so much. (opinion) i'd try both and look at the differences and choose. base potential on? should be obvious.. you want peak or averaged out or the option between... the differences will be predictable. spread out the guy that hits "50" in 1 year and goes nuts, probably isn't as likely to do that in a historic replay using his entire career for potential. imo, this is a bad idea because it's including their 'rookie-ish' years and their aging years... only if they remain healthy and acitve wil they approach career numbers and yearly stuff will be spread thin. fewer peaks, but also fewer valleys. but, aging is going to occur even so. so, it's almost double dipping on the negative in some cases. (depending on other settings, that might not be a problem) it does exactly what it says.. if it's not clear try looking up 1 player on bbreg and apply what you read to their stats... 3yr? 5yr? peak years? reamining peak years? how would htis change his *likely* results etc (ie ratings cause % success failure). don't make any decision on one player.. just helps visualize if you can't "see it" |
