Misc. Suggestions after 5+ years of playing

OOTP is amazingly fantastic just as-is. But there is a message board titled "Suggestions for Future OOTP Versions". So here are my suggestions - some of which are contradictory!

1. Browser- and web-based interface, install-able on servers to facilitate online leagues. No more imports or exports - direct team control, like online fantasy baseball leagues, without all the extra commissioner work.

2. Exportable personnel pages - free agents and by team or league, with better filters on reputation, personality, style, development influence, relationships, veteran-prospect preference, pitcher-hitter preference, avg-obp preferences, etc, based on which in-game league is selected. Searching/signing Personnel is a pain in the butt right now.

3. Scout-based Top Prospects lists. Make Top 100 prospects and organizational depth charts be based on team scout evaluation rather than OSA.

4. Customize-able stat columns on player Ratings page (instead of just default stats...I would love to see FIP, K-BB%, BABIP, etc on player ratings pages so I don't have to go searching for them.)

5. Overall and Potential ratings are per scout ratings. Would be nice to have user-customizeable overall and potential ratings also, that can be imported from a user's Excel.

6. Complete re-vamping of the Accounting page. The programming doesn't need to change, but the Accounting page is indecipherable.

7. Make Development Budget customizeable - allocation by type. Allocate 30% to plate patience? 20% to power development? 20% to pitching command? Scouting can be allocated into major, minor, amateru, and international buckets, why not Player Development?

I was in league with CRPerry for a long time. I'd like to contribute here.

1) I would love to see this, and I even think many online league players would be willing to pay $2 or $3 monthly - on top of the game - to have this option. I would love to see an online-type league developed this way, where the commissioner would be able to indicate when the sim takes place and how often. So the commish would have the option of saying the sim takes place every day at 12 noon US Eastern time, and much like the NFL and MLB draft bots at places like ESPN and Yahoo, a timer could show how much time was left until the next sim - then the sim would run automatically. It would also be cool if the commissioner could set such a sim timer to sim one day every X hours. So if a commissioner set the timer to a one day sim every 4 hours, each 24 hour period would cover 6 days, and the commissioner wouldn't have to be sitting at his/her computer to make it happen. This would also make sure each player was using the proper version of the game, and upload issues would not be a problem anymore.

3) Agreed. Need to see more of what my scout thinks and less OSA. Also when it comes to scouts, in games without coaches, it would be great if all available personnel were available and stayed available for hire as scouts. In our present league, we have no coaches, just scouts, but a number of potentially top scouts are un-signable because they want to be hired as GMs.

4) would be great - drop down menus like on the Team Home and Financial pages to alter the content, or customizable columns like on the "players" page.

7) This is a fine idea; but in a modification of this idea, I would like to see something called "offseason focus". Default would be equal attention to each of the 5 main hitting ratings, plus each of the fielding ratings; the effect would be diluted, but modified depending on work ethic, greed and intelligence... meaning the "unmotivated" person would have a greater chance of losing a rating or two in the offseason, and the high work ethic person would have a greater chance of gaining a rating or two in the offseason. But the gold in this idea is that if you take the time to set the main "offseason focus" for each player, they would have a greater chance to gain a potential/actual rating in that main focus. Every player engages in an offseason program - and you bet that real-life Roughned Odor is spending this offseason working on pitch recognition and making solid contact after a season that saw him hit .204 with 30 HR and over 160 strikeouts. Why not bring that focus idea into the best baseball sim?
