Negro League Players
Started a long term replay with OOTP15 with first possible year and now some sixty sim years later, and using OOTP18, I just had my rule 5 draft in December 1935 (and yes I drafted Oscar Charleston, because he was the best of the best and a position of need).
It appears that ALL Negro League Players were eligible for the MLB Rule 5 Draft! I can understand them appearing in some cases as Free Agents, but as a purist, they should not be eligible as Rule 5 draftee's! Negro Leagues had no affiliation with ANY MLB team. Thanks for the great game! |

There was no rule5 draft in 1935 so you should disable it.
There were no negro players in 1935 so you should not be signing Charleston. Since you are using fictional rules you should expect fictional results.

Yes there was. There has been some version of the Rule 5 draft since 1903 (although I think it started out as Rule 4)

Prior to its current incarnation, from 1959 until the creation of the Rule 4 draft in 1965, top first-year prospects of teams were exposed to the Rule 5 draft. This was in some ways an outgrowth of the Bonus Rule that existed from 1946 to 1950 and from 1953 to 1957.
