OOTP Zip Files

I am curious about the many zip files in the OOTP18 folders, ... for instance if you navigate to :

Out of the Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 18/default_data

there is a misc folder and a number of zip folders for things like:
background_images
ballcap_files
ballpark_files
baseball_card_files
and many more

My question is are all of these zip folders supposed to be in zip format, or are you supposed to extract them. If extract them, what folder do they belong?

The game is running fine for me, it's just I can not extract any file (like a 1958 baseball card template) to OOTP18. I get a message that I do not have permission. Just curious if anything sounds off. Or is what I am describing sound normal?

Thank you

i assume they're zip for a reason. they are in my game as well, and everything works fine without touching them. no idea why the went to zip this year, but maybe it was to conserve space, as the game is getting larger each release.

when you "retstore" from main app troubleshooting page or encounter a bunk file, it restores it from these zip files.

if you look in them and at them, you notice each one correlates to a directory in ootp\data as well as all the files in the archive with the file contents of said directory.

so, never fear about dinking around with stock images and such... their in the zip files. way faster to do it yourself for a few files than restore everything through the game.

if images or whatever ever reverts back, this is how that happened... the file didn't spontaneously manifest itself. think pastuer worked on disproving that
