Name frequency with a custom first_names file?
I'm using a name file of women's names for a women's league idea I've had, and the file, by default, just has 1 as the frequency for all the names, which as I understand it just means that all names are equally likely.
I've edited the file to have the frequencies as high as 3500 for the most common names, but there doesn't seem to be any difference in the distribution of the names. Is it just a sample size issue, or do the frequencies actually not mean anything? |

After you made the edits, did you reload the names database?

Yeah, I made sure to do that, then randomise player names.

Well, that's not good. Maybe restarting OOTP would help.
I know the game had some problems with customized name databases a couple of versions ago, but that should have been fixed by now. |

It definitely should work the way you did it according to the manual. Setting all to 1 should be equal. http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/...he_names_files
Wondering is the format or something else out of whack a bit? |

Edit: that doesn't seem to have made a massive difference. Last edited by Cryomaniac; 12-09-2017 at 01:46 PM. |
