Does playing at home or away make a difference at all?

Different sized ballparks aside, in sports sometimes teams just play better at home then on the road and vice versa for a multitude of reasons. Is that the case with OOTP? If so is there a way to view a players "career" batting avg at home and on the road? As it stands I can only see the current season for that stat. It would make sense to not include that stat if it makes no difference but if it does, a career stat for things like batting avg on the road/home should be included in OOTP19

27/24=1.125 and 1.125X0.500=0.5625 so home teams should theoretically win 56% if the time. IRL historically it is slightly less say 0.550 and trending down in recent seasons.

In my experience OOTP seems to model this well

Baseball Reference has a note on it.

Um... I'd like an explanation of how a team playing at home gets 12.5% more outs than the visiting team? Assuming they are down and the bottom of the 9th is played, both teams still get 27 outs.

i think in ootp at the upper end of success it's non-existent. around 120-130ish wins it starts to be recognizeable, methinks. in leagues with stricter rules i definitely notice an 'advantage' but in other leagues it's indistinguishable without a calculator and a lot of seasons.

the fact that stadiums aren't uniform makes at least some of it tangible. if you can't rest as well, that's something else tangible but coudl be tied to a weak-will (self-inflicted/irrational) in some contexts too.

personal theory for real life, not ootp:

home field advantage is due to alot of the small stuff mentioned about comfort etc etc but also the fact that they probably party a bit more on the road than at home -- more so for the married ones.

but, who am i kidding. a significant portion of these guys are like average college kids (average = not a positive comment) until they are mid-30's / 40's. they party every night, regardless.

So is the consensus here that that if a guy hitting say 350 at home he should be hitting around the same on the road over a huge sample size in ootp? Forget about the fact that all parks are different. Pretend they are the same. I'm just wondering if like in real life some players just play better at home then on the road or if ootp isn't quite realistic in that way.
