Edit titlehistory.dat file?

Hi, guys. Is it possible to edit the titlehistory.dat file without screwing up your game? I tried using Wordpad as someone suggested and it looked okay until I tried to open the game again when I got an error message.

It was a simple edit. Changing a rounds number in a title fight from 9 to 2. Guess this is why I've never done this before.

I definitely got this error message once... didn't even edit the text file though.
